About Me
Hi, I'm Jesse, and I'm a programmer, artist, and community organizer.
I grew up in upstate New York and graduated from Bard College in 2022 with a B.A. in Computer Science and a minor in Experimental Humanities. I'm versed in leading, mediating, acting, and many circus skills. In my free time I read books, design games, and tell stories. I'm looking for opportunities to help others tell their stories, and to address the global climate crisis facing all of us.
Recent Community Organizing
D&D Program, Geneval Public Library
In 2023, I joined Rob Lamb in running D&D games open to the public. In the summer of 2024, we expanded the scale of our reach by adding two new programs, increasing the flow of patrons interacting with the library. The expansion has been very succseful, and we plan to add two more programs this fall.
Bard on the Clocktower, Gaming and Socializing Group
In 2021, I started a public gaming group at Bard college that played only one social deduction game: Blood on the Clocktower. I founded the group to help rebuild the social networks and skills we'd all lost during the pandemic. I am proud to say that the club continues in my absence and is growing, welcoming in new freshmen.
St. Lawrence District Youth Conference Planning & Chaplaining
In 2013, 2014 and 2016 I helped plan Unitarian Universalist weekend conferences, bringing together 80 - 100 teenagers together from all over New York. Planning for each conference took around 3 months. I served as a youth chaplain at four conferences from 2015 to 2017.
Recent Work Experience
Empire Coffee & Donuts, Winter of 2024 to Present
Rising before the sun, I make at least 120 donuts from scratch all by my lonesome, half of the week. My donut skills are self taught, and I'm responsible for cleaning and organizing my donut nook.
HeartStone Artisan Bakery, winter of 2023 to Summer of 2023
Opened, closed, and ran a bakery shop 2 days a week. Attended customers, served food, restocked shelves, cleaned dishes, and accounted for inventory.
Sterling Renaissance Faire, summer of 2022
On the weekends I made sales for the Imaginarium Adoptorium. During my 10 hour standing shifts, I welcomed and engaged customers, answered questions, and sold high priced hand crafted goods while maintaining a warm and family friendly environment.
Brooklyn Game Labs, summers of 2019 & 2021
For two summers I had the pleasure of being a full time instructor at a board game summer camp. I cared for 6 to 30 kids at a time, from the ages of 6 to 14. I also occasionally filled managerial roles when we were short staffed. Each day I taught the kids complex games and maintained a safe learning and play environment.
